Be Well. Work Well.

An effective team is built on trust, accountability and commitment.

A resilient team takes teamwork further.

Team members enjoy good social connection and support each other's wellbeing on a daily basis.

They understand the risks they face.

And put measures in place to mitigate or exploit them.

When things go wrong, they communicate and collaborate well with each other.

They learn from failure.

And creatively identify opportunities for new ways of working.

Increasing their organisation's chances of success.

Why does my team's resilience matter?

The future success of any organisation is dependent on all teams performing at their optimum level.

Yet, the pressure on these teams can be overwhelming.

Limited resources. Unrealistic deadlines. Excessive workload.

These constraints place a considerable burden on the team, as a whole.

And on team members, whose mental health governs their ability to perform at their best.

Absences or shortfalls in performance due to presenteeism (team members working whilst ill) place additional burdens on other team members.

As a result, the team is now working in already challenging conditions with a diminished capability.

Performance is compromised.

Potentially placing even greater pressure on the organisation, which starts the cycle all over again.

This direct feedback loop shows us that the mental wellbeing and personal resilience of team members is a critical success factor not just for the team itself.

It is also necessary for the organisation to achieve its goals.

How can we create a supportive environment for team success?

Ask yourself a few key questions:

  • Are team members experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety and burn out?
  • How well do team members know, trust and respect each other?
  • Does the team fully understand its purpose, mission and goals?
  • Does the team leader support the mental wellbeing of team members?
  • Are team members supported when taking risks?
  • Does the team have strategies in place to support each other's wellbeing?
  • How well does the team anticipate and take advantage of change?
  • How can the team improve the way it responds to failure?
